Cyclical Repetition

October 19, 2023

I plan my attack against Gabriel.

Entering the Arena.

Lyrics

GABRIEL 1
This one goes out to all the ones
Trapped in a system of blind devotion
Always being told not to question it
Always because that's just the way it is
Well now the cracks are starting to show
And I'm choosing my own principles
If you have a brain and you can think
Then you too can stand at the pinnacle, pinnacle

Things got tense between me and the world
Everyone around me hates what I have become
But I've survived, always thinking of the truth
Well now that I can break away
I'll leave those backwards ways behind
And live in the 21st century

GABRIEL 1
I won't make the same mistakes
Of hating those who did no wrong

CAIN
History marches forward
Repeating like a song

GABRIEL 1
I won't make the same mistakes
Of rejecting what's backed up by science

CAIN
History marches forward
Repeating like a song

CAIN
I can’t tell you this to your face yet
But no, you didn’t think for yourself at all
I have many questions for you as well
But you’d only answer with “I’m right, you’re wrong”
I’m also condemned for something I didn’t choose
Bet you didn’t know, based on how you’re acting
Your logic is just regurgitated
Your words have not been corroborated

But I know--truth is, your values taint your perception
Till you can’t see
The way your fabricated justifications break down
If that’s what family is to you
Then you can be my family
And we’ll run through that script again

GABRIEL 1
I won't make the same mistakes
Of hating those who did no wrong
CAIN
History marches forward
Repeating like a song

Commentary

Even though I was no longer part of the City of Gray and Blue, I was hit with the desire to look for something egregious, something I could point to and refute. I moved instinctively to the one place where Gabriel's unbending rationalism was sure to be found--the Lotus Hotel's conference venue.

When I arrived, Gabriel was espousing their principles right on cue, talking about how they're morally superior and would never be hurtful or bigoted, and also intellectually superior and would always believe reality.

Today, they sang the first part of this song. I started recording as soon as I heard the song start, and took the sample back to the Training Arena. It's a place between all the realms that reflects my mental state, and it allows me to formulate attacks by practicing against a simulation.

I make my way to the control room, and I take out my recording device with Gabriel's song. I connect it to the machines in the room, and I adjust some things before leaving through the door that takes me to the Arena.

And so, I came up with a response to Gabriel's words. Where Gabriel says they were told to unquestioningly believe certain things or be labelled "evil", I responded that I have to deal with those things from the secular world because morality and religion are similar. Everyone thinks they're accepting and just. Nobody thinks about what they aren't aware of, and that's Gabriel's problem too.
